More than a thousand people have been injured in the past five years during police pursuits, and half of those injuries were sustained by innocent bystanders, according to a new report on police chases in Los Angeles.In 2023 alone, seven people were injured and three were killed during police pursuits, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Pursuit Injuries Report. “Clearly we don’t take that lightly,” said LAPD Commander Craig Valenzuela.The Board of Commissioners requested more data after two fatal pursuits in the San Fernando Valley earlier this year. However, Chief Michel Moore is not ready to make immediate changes to the department’s pursuit policy, Commander Valenzuela confirmed. “He doesn’t want a policy that fully limits officers from chasing because we do have a responsibility to make arrests,” he said. A bipartisan congressional group from California and Nevada has asked for federal funding to be fast-tracked for the high-speed train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.A new station will be built in Rancho Cucamonga and will connect to existing Metrolink service lines in San Bernardino and Los Angeles. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Charges will be dropped against the man accused of striking former San Francisco Fire Commissioner Don Carmignani with a metal pipe, Carmignani told KRON4. Carmignani, 53, was struck in the Marina District on April 5, resulting in hospitalization and surgery.Garret Allen Doty, 24, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury for the incident. A woman is in the hospital after her car fell down a ravine in Rock Creek Park Tuesday afternoon.D.C. Fire and EMS said the car left the road around 5 p.m. on Piney Branch Parkway — east of Beach Drive in Northwest D.C.Update crash with entrapment Piney Branch Parkway NW. Using a rope pulley system & ladders, Special Operations personnel lifted patient to roadway. Adult female to be transported with serious injuries.
