OAKLAND — A Black-led, local development group has formally offered to buy out the A’s partial ownership share of the Coliseum, proposing to take one of Oakland’s most notable pieces of real estate off the team’s hands in order to revitalize the property. In an offer letter, the African American Sports and Entertainment Group (AASEG) describes its interest in “expediting the future redevelopment” of the 155-acre Coliseum complex, which includes the baseball stadium and the Oakland Arena, plus the vast parking space in between.AASEG sent the letter earlier this week to the A’s, as well as to numerous city and Alameda County officials. It did not name a price, but offered instead to engage in negotiations with the franchise over the terms of a potential buyout, noting the team’s intentions of constructing a new Las Vegas ballpark by 2028.Amid public overtures by Mayor Sheng Thao to keep the A’s in town for as long as possible, this ...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — All-Star slugger Adolis García, the American League leader with 100 RBIs, will be placed on the 10-day injured list by the playoff-contending and slumping Texas Rangers after an MRI on Thursday revealed a patellar tendon strain in his right knee.General manager Chris Young said García won’t need surgery and that the team is “cautiously optimistic” he might be able to return this season for the Rangers, who have 23 regular-season games left. The GM didn’t provide a definite timetable. “We won’t know that for certain until the next week to 10 days as we kind of see how the healing and inflammation responds,” Young said. “Nonetheless, it was not a rupture, which we were fearful of. So I think that was good news all things considered, and we’ll will remain hopeful that he can return.”Texas is going to call up top prosect outfielder Evan Carter, and he will join the team for the opener of a weekend series at home against Oakland on Friday night. Young said the tea...

Ebrard desafía la unidad en Morena y el liderazgo de López Obrador

Published Sat, 01 Mar 2025 03:46:28 GMT

CINCINNATI (AP) — Ruixin Liu of China was still suffering from allergies that forced her to withdraw from the LPGA Tour event last week. It didn’t stop her from posting a 7-under 65 on Thursday for her best round of the year and a one-shot lead in the Kroger Queen City Championship.Liu started so well that her lone regret was a par on the 12th hole when she hit her approach to 18 feet on the par 5 and three-putted for a par. She had seven birdies through 13 holes and then closed with five pars.Liu had a one-shot lead on the Kendale course at Kenwood Country Club over Peiyun Chien, Elizabeth Szokol, short-hitting Dottie Ardina and Linnea Strom. Liu reached the par-5 second hole for a two-putt birdie, made a 15-foot birdie on the next hole and then it all felt easy.“From that point on the putter is just rolling great,” Liu said. “I pretty much made everything except for hole No. 12. That’s the only bad hole I played today, because my second shot was only like 18 feet for e...

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver will start accepting applications for the Basic Cash Assistance for Households Program. The Denver Agency for Human Rights and Community Partnerships, through its partnership with Impact Charitable, is helping families who were ineligible for previous federal assistance during the pandemic. Colorado’s paid sick leave law has expanded: Here's what that means for workers "While the pandemic in its most extreme iteration may be over, there's still an aftermath of maybe not having the resources to go to the daycare that you went to before, or you had to move because you lost your job during the pandemic," said Atim Otii, director of the Denver Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. The program is geared toward families who couldn't get help before because of their immigration status. The one-time, direct cash assistance of $1,000 or $1,500 — from the American Rescue Plan Act Fund — will be distributed to Denver residents who have been impacted by the pandemic an...
