(KRON) -- A drought has caused San Mateo County’s agriculture industry to decrease by nearly 6 percent, according to a new report. The county’s agriculture production in 2022 was $92.2 million versus the nearly $98 million produced in 2021. Despite the increase in field crops, it could not cover the decreases in other categories, the county noted. “Drought remained a factor for growers and ranchers in 2022,” said County Agricultural Commissioner Koren Widdel. “With water in short supply, some operators switched to commodities they could dry farm, such as field crops with a 9.32 percent increase in gross value.” Nima Momeni to stand trial for murder of Bob Lee, judge rules Floral and nursery crops took up most of the county’s agriculture production. In 2021, it produced over $60 million. Four elected prosecutors filed suit against the state of Georgia on Wednesday to stop a new law that gives appointees of the state’s Republican governor the power to remove elected district attorneys from office. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed the bill into law in May.“This is a trend that we’re seeing across the country of state governments that don’t like how local communities want to address concerns about public safety,” said Josh Rosenthal, legal director at Public Rights Project, which is working on the suit. “When local communities are making choices that these conservative state governments don’t like, state governments aren’t respecting the will of the voters. They’re taking that power away from local communities.”“When local communities are making choices that these conservative state governments don’t like, state governments aren’t respecting the will of the voters.”The Georgia bill is one of at least 37 preemption measures — proposals that seek to limit the power of elec...

And Wednesday was further evidence of that as Panama exposed France’s defensive weaknesses and Jamaica held Brazil 0-0 to advance as runner-up in the group.“There was a huge shock this evening.
