The owners of a private airport 20 minutes from Denver as the plane flies have listed the property for sale for $4.1 million. The 200-acre Platte Valley Airpark in Fort Lupton is 3 miles northeast of Hudson and 40 miles northeast of Denver. The property includes a three-story tower and 6,000-square-foot hangar.Thirteen aviators purchased the property amid farmland in 1992 when it was only a hangar and a dirt strip to land a small plane.Kevin Kennelly, one of the Platte Valley Airpark shareholders, called the airpark a passion project and said the aviator owners didn’t focus on turning it into a money-making venture.“We wanted to maintain a privately owned operation without the bureaucratic problems that publicly owned airports face,” he said. The original shareholders are ready to retire; some have died and bequeathed their shares. He hopes the new owners will continue the 30-plus-years tradition.“Part of the dream of owning your own plane is owning your own airport,” Kennelly said. “I...San Francisco Tomato Week to kick off Monday

WREXHAM, Wales (AP) — Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Hugh Jackman watched an eight-goal thriller which had an unhappy ending for the Hollywood stars as Welsh soccer club Wrexham lost its first match back in England’s Football League on Saturday. Host Wrexham was beaten 5-3 by MK Dons at the Racecourse Ground in the opening round of matches in the fourth tier. Co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney have made Wrexham one of the most talked-about teams in Britain after buying a down-on-its-luck club for $2.5 million in 2021 and making it the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary — entitled “Welcome to Wrexham” — that’s charted the journey of a team run by a couple of actors learning the ropes of sports club ownership.Wrexham is playing in the Football League — the three divisions outside the Premier League — for the first time in 15 years following promotion from the National League in April.Wrexham’s profile has risen so much that the team played preseason games in the United S...Bill Madden: With Mets roster gutted, Buck Showalter a big loser at trade deadline

When the dust settled from last week’s trade deadline frenzy, the Astros, Rangers, Phillies and Rays could all consider themselves winners for having filled substantial starting rotation needs going forward, while it will take some time before the primary “sellers,” the Mets, White Sox and Cardinals, know how they fared. The pundits who love conducting this exercise every year have already declared the Reds, who failed to land a desperately needed frontline starter to bolster their chances of winning the National League Central and seemingly had the prospects to get one, as the big losers at the deadline. There are others who will say the Yankees were losers for doing next to nothing, even though they had a whole of holes to fill but not a whole lot to offer in return. But though it remained unspoken as Billy Eppler systematically blew up the 2023 Mets season and offered only muted hope about 2024, there was one notable loser to emerge in all of this and that would b...Ex-Met David Wright thrilled to be commish for NYPD-FDNY clash at Citi Field: ‘These are the real heroes’

Growing up in Norfolk, Va., David Wright knew that December meant a holiday party at the Police Department. That’s where he and his three younger brothers would sit on Santa’s lap and recount their wish lists, some of which included toy police cars and sirens. The police were a big part of Wright’s childhood because his father, Rhon, was a cop who worked in the Norfolk Police Department for 33 years and retired as an assistant chief of police. When Rhon Wright worked in the canine unit, there was always a German shepherd at home. It was a thrill for David to see his dad in uniform with his badge, but he and his brothers also got a kick out of when his dad worked undercover and would flick the headlights of his unmarked car at them after arriving at a baseball game. Wright laughs as he recalls his dad in a Tidewater Tides jacket — the Mets’ former Triple-A affiliate — in a photo with his undercover unit.“It was really cool and neat, growing up...Palestinian shooting attack in downtown Tel Aviv critically injures 1

JERUSALEM (AP) — A Palestinian gunman on Saturday opened fire in central Tel Aviv, critically wounding an Israeli police inspector before he was shot and killed by police, authorities said. The attack came a day after a settler rampage in the occupied West Bank killed one Palestinian, deepening the spiral of violence that has gripped the region for the past year and a half.Police identified the gunman as Kamel Abu Bakr, from a village near the flashpoint city of Jenin in the northern West Bank. Jenin’s refugee camp last month was the site of the largest Israeli offensive in the West Bank in nearly two decades. Twelve Palestinians, including at least eight militants, and one Israeli soldier, were killed in the fighting, which forced thousands to flee their homes and left large swaths of the camp in ruins. lsraeli police said that municipal inspectors noticed Bakr, and, believing he was acting suspiciously, approached him. They said Bakr then opened fire, wounding a 40-year-old i...Latest news
