By Marc Levy | Associated PressPennsylvania will truck in 2,000 tons of lightweight glass nuggets to help quickly rebuild a collapsed section of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia and crews will work 24 hours a day until they can reopen the critical commercial artery, officials said Wednesday.Instead of rebuilding the overpass right away, crews will use the recycled glass to fill in the collapsed area to avoid supply-chain delays for other materials, Gov. Josh Shapiro said. But Shapiro repeatedly declined to estimate how long it will take to get traffic flowing again on the busy East Coast highway.“We’re going to get this job done as quickly as possible,” Shapiro said at a news conference near the site, over the sounds of heavy machinery working to clear wreckage. He said the work would be done with union labor.Investigators continued to look into why a truck hauling gasoline went out of control on an off-ramp and flipped on its side, igniting a fire early Sunday that ca...Colorado landlord succeeds in evicting Twitter over unpaid rent

A Boulder, Colorado, landlord succeeded in obtaining an order to evict Twitter over unpaid rent, according to recent court documents.A judge for Boulder County’s district court permitted law enforcement to evict the tenant on May 31, directing the tech giant to evacuate its suites at 3401 Bluff St. in Boulder and return them to the owner and landlord, Lot 2 SBO LLC.On May 12, Lot 2 SBO — a Delaware limited liability company related to Chicago’s The John Buck Company — filed a complaint against Twitter, alleging unpaid rent.Twitter and the landlord signed a lease for four building suites in February 2020, but the corporation failed to pay its rent, according to court documents. The landlord issued a default notice to Twitter, which went ignored. Through the end of March, Lot 2 SBO instead used a letter of credit deposited by Twitter for $968,000 to pay the rent, “which serves as security for Tenant’s performance under the Lease.”Twitter was then required to replenish the letter of cre...Yastrzemski delivers in clutch as SF Giants finish sweep of Cardinals

Authorities in Maryland have released video footage from body cameras and police cruiser dashcams showing the moments leading up to a fatal pursuit on Interstate 270 in Rockville last month. The videos — which total more than 19 minutes — were released by the Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division on Tuesday.Police say Lawrence White, 37, was behind the wheel of a black Infiniti that was stopped in the middle of the road on Rockledge Drive in North Bethesda about 5 a.m. on May 20, triggering a call to police about an unresponsive driver. The videos show officers approaching the car — with its brake lights still illuminated — shining flashlights into the driver’s side window. One officer says, “Gun, gun, gun,” telling the other officers she saw the butt of a gun in the driver’s lap. From the video, it’s unclear whether the driver ever roused.Several minutes later, more officers have surrounded the car, and a serg...Stock market today: Wall Street swings to mixed close as Fed hints of rate hikes to come

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street swung to a mixed finish after the Federal Reserve hinted it may raise interest rates two more times this year, even as it held them steady Wednesday. The S&P 500 finished the day 0.1% higher after pinballing between gains and losses following the Fed’s announcement. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 232 points, or 0.7%, while the Nasdaq composite rose 0.4%.The Fed closed its latest policy meeting by saying it would keep rates where they are, to give more time to see how its fusillade of hikes over the last 15 months is affecting the economy. It’s attempting the excruciating balancing act of slowing the economy just enough through rate increases to snuff out high inflation, but not so much as to break the job market and create a recession.Standing pat would give the economy more time to absorb all the past rate hikes, and Fed Chair Jerome Powell said “ideally by taking a little more time, we won’t go well past the level where we need to go....Sarah Huckabee Sanders travels to Europe for 1st overseas trade mission as Arkansas governor

DOVER, Del. (AP) — The state Supreme Court is mulling whether the University of Delaware was justified in denying requests from Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation for records related to the school’s receipt of President Joe Biden’s senatorial papers. The justices heard arguments for the second time Wednesday in a long-running legal battle over the records, which have been the subject of multiple FOIA requests. That battle is playing out amid increased scrutiny of the handling of government documents by elected officials, including this week’s indictment of former President Donald Trump for allegedly mishandling and retaining classified documents at his Florida estate.Meanwhile, the discovery of documents with classified markings at Biden’s Delaware home and at his former Washington office is the subject of an investigation by a special counsel.
