Bay Area air quality advisory extended until Monday

(BCN) -- The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has extended an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday. The district said Sunday smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area through Monday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA's Air Quality Index. Nordstrom in downtown SF officially closes after more than 30 years on Market Street Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. The district said in a statement that pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect. The district will closely monitor air quality throughout the region for smoke impacts from these fires. If the smell of smoke is present, it's important that Bay Area residents protect their health by avoiding exposure. Walker on Sunday, clearing the way for rookie Tyson Bagent to back up Justin Fields.The Bears agreed to a two-year deal with Walker in March, only to see him struggle in camp. Bagent is now in line for the No. 2 spot, unless the Bears bring in another quarterback, after going undrafted following a record-setting career at Division II Shepherd University. He set the NCAA’s all-division record with 159 career touchdown passes while finishing with 17,034 yards. In 2021, Bagent won the Harlon Hill Trophy, Division II’s equivalent of the Heisman.The Bears also waived offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood while waiving offensive lineman Gabe Houy with an injury designation. The Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce has released the second edition of their City Council Report Card. The chamber launched the report card this year as a way to provide a short summary of business-related decisions made by council and keep local business owners informed of how council is serving Kingston’s business community. The document also provides a ranking of “green” (resulted in positive business outcomes), “yellow” (contained potential business concerns), or “red” (resulted in negative business outcomes) for each decision. This is a quarterly document, with this edition containing decisions made in May, June, and July 2023.In this time period, 13 business-related motions came before council. The Belle Park Project, a team of researchers who do work surrounding Belle Park, are introducing a series of events including artistic projects and conversations surrounding the site in the next week.The series, entitled “Unearthed,” aims to foster discussions around complicated natural and political histories of the park.Belle Park was built fifty years ago on a landfill that had previously been a wetland for thousands of years.
