CAIRO (AP) — U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Sudan is on the brink of a “full-scale civil war” as fierce clashes between rival generals continued unabated Sunday in the capital of Khartoum.Guterres warned late Saturday that the war between the Sudanese military and a powerful paramilitary force is likely to destabilize the entire region, according to Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the U.N. chief.Sudan descended into chaos after months of tension between military chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan and his rival, Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, exploded into open fighting in mid-April.Health Minister Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim said last month that the clashes have killed over 3,000 people and wounded over 6,000 others. CHICAGO (AP) — An SUV traveling the wrong way along a Chicago lakefront road collided with a city bus Sunday morning, killing one of the SUV’s passengers and injuring 15 other people, authorities said.A man was driving a Dodge Journey south along northbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive when it crashed into a Chicago Transit Authority bus about 6 a.m. near the city’s Kenwood neighborhood, police said.A female passenger in the SUV, which caught fire after the crash, was pronounced dead at a hospital, while the SUV’s driver and another female passenger were taken to hospitals in critical condition, police said.Chicago fire officials said the driver of the bus and 12 passengers were taken to area hospitals in good condition, WLS-TV reported. Tate Rheaume, 20, has been charged with grossly negligent operation of a vehicle and attempting to elude, with additional charges still possible. Palo Alto police have arrested two people suspected of felony fraud after they rammed their truck into two patrol cars on Friday night. Inside the suspects’ vehicle, police found a loaded handgun, narcotics, and fraudulent identification cards — and officials later discovered the vehicle itself had also been fraudulently obtained using another individual’s identity information, according to the police department.At around 5 p.m. on July 7, 39-year-old Emmanuel Glinton attempted to withdraw money from an account that didn’t belong to him at First Tech Federal Credit Union, located at 3000 El Camino Real. (KTXL) -- The man accused of a shooting at Roseville's Mahany Park that left a 72-year-old man dead and his spouse and a California Highway Patrol officer wounded escaped from Sutter Roseville Medical Center in east Roseville on Sunday, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Eric Abril, 35, who had been in custody since April on charges of murder and attempted murder, escaped from the hospital early Sunday morning after apparently being taken there from the Placer County jail.
